Teen Impact is a program for teens with cancer or other blood diseases, giving teens with cancer an opportunity to make new friends, share life experiences and participate in fun activities. Teen Impact was CoachArt’s first program partner, providing a pilot program for the adolescents in this program. CoachArt continues to have a strong relationship with this organization and continues to partner with the group to provide events and workshops for its students.

Two times a year, CoachArt partners with Hollywood Heart to produce movie team weekends for teens in our program. These 3-day workshops give students the ability to create their own short movie. Students create their characters, outline a script, memorize lines, create costumes and props to experience behind-the-scenes magic of movie making.

The LA Dodgers invite CoachArt families to enjoy a day at the baseball park. This partnership allowed CoachArt to invite 50 people from the Los Angeles and Pasadena Ronald McDonald Houses to a game in August 2005.

The United States Adaptive Recreation Center was founded in 1983 to ensure that access to skiing is available to people with all types of disabilities. CoachArt partners with USARC for a winter snow ski trip and a summer water ski trip. USARC provides all the adaptive equipment that is necessary to ensure that all children and adolescents will be successful as they participate in the sport.

The Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art conducts educational workshops for teens and adolescents in our program. First, they do a series of educational workshops where students learn and make their own art in the hospital setting. Next, CoachArt students are invited to the museum for educational guided tours. In addition, all students who attend and their families receive a free one-year pass to the visit the museum.

History

CoachArt partners and collaborates with local companies, dance, yoga and art studios, professional sports teams, and other non-profit organizations to deliver valuable programs to our students and the community.
